Auxiliary Programs for CBRN specialists
In the cause of my CBRN activities in the National Guard / Territorail Army / Army Reserve, I found that numerous activities would lend themselves to automatization. As we now see portable PC's in various roles on the battlefield, now seems to be the time to automatize the "mud-bound" CBRN activities.
It goes without saying, that all programs adhere to ATP-45(B) and related documents.
At present, the following routines are implemented in our CBRN programs :
(Dont worry about the horrible colours you see, it is obviously an incompatibility between Word and FrontPage express)
As you can see, multiple languages are supported. This is extremely important, as we cannot expect all military personel to be fluent in English, and especially not in CBRN terminology. The programs have therefore been designed with the best "user friendliness" we can imagine. It would be appreciated, if linguists could translate the used texts into languages not yet supported.
All programs, apart from "Chemical Warfare", can be executed on Win98 and newer systems. "Chemical Warfare" is a very old DOS program, so this will only run DOS and Windows versions op to Win2000.
- Type of Attack (B/C/Rota): this program shows Target Area and Contamination Area for Bio and Chem attacks. ROTA is not yet implemented.
- Expected Duration: this program computes the expected duration of Chemical attacks, based on temperature, wind speed, relative humidity and other meteorological factors.
- Weather Report/ZA: based on the entered data, the program computes the ZA field, as used in the relevant messages.
- Wind Vector Length: computes the length of the vectors, as needed when drawing EDM's based on BWM's. The same routines are used in "Effective Downwind Message", so the program is only useful if you insist on drawing the vector map manually.
- Loss and Vulnerability Assessment: this program collects all variables we can meet in the field (protection, work load, type of uniform, …) and uses them to modify the standard loss tables.
- A-Survey instruction & report: this program writes a user-defined instruction for CBRN personel to take out into the field. Measurement results can be entered at the CBRN-cell as they become available. The program can also compute H+1 and H+x.
- C-survey instruction & report instruction & -report: basically an NBC 4 CHEM instruction / -report.
- Chemical Agents (Windows): a replacement for the venerable DOS program CHEMWAR, the owner of which we have not been able to trace.
- NBC4CHEM analysis: this program collects data from NBC 4 CHEM's. It shows which chemical substances have been detected ("positive detection"), which ones are positively not present ("negative detection"), and what might be present, but has not been detected by the detection hardware used.
- Effective Downwind Message: this program converts a Basic Wind Message to an Effective Downwind Message.
Apart from this set of programs, we can also offer a communication module :
Originally, the intention of this program was to "outsource" the Data Entry of NBC 1's and 4's, so the CBRN main system (based on Bruhn Newtech's NBC Analysis) would not be overloaded c.q. delayed because of the data entry to be done.
It was soon realised, that this way of working could be beneficial for other relevant things, such as the entry of data directly from sub-ordinate units into NBC Analysis, "horizontal communication" between various units and even the translation of NBC 3's into something understandable for non-specialists. Here you can't say e.g. "BRAVO 32U PG 753 412"; it has to be translated to "Location: Vetterslev Church".
For communication the ADATP protocol is used, so there should not be problems communicating with other systems using the same protocol.
At present, the following routines are implemented:
- Housekeeping
- Parameters
- Abbreviations
- Address Book
- Mailing Lists
- Loglist
- Archive
- National Characters / Abbreviations
- Waiting Messages
- Predefined Locations
- Recent Changes
- Print Data Files
- Off-line / On-line Data Entry
- Default / Modified Weather
- Data Entry of NBC 1's and NBC 4's (NUC CHEM BIO ROTA)
- Memo's (including translations of CBRN messages for manual handling)
"One-off" licensing will be available, and so will "Institution wide".
We can also modify the programs as needed, e.g. when different types of chemical detection hardware are used (proper documentation will need to be forwarded). If you have any questions, please call or e-mail.
We can also offer to build your own shell around the programs, or build them into your own, bigger, system.
Support/update agreements will be available at an annual fee corresponding to 15% of the sales price.
