Service Bureau Activities
When checking our new location, which otherwise suited our purposes perfectly, the previous owner unfortunately "forgot" to tell us that the room we wanted to use for production, was not quite suitable. The room is now being de-moisturized, so we hope to be able to convert the room into suitable production facilities by Christmas
"Research and Development"
Our service bureau can useually help in converting data from/to media which are not universally accepted on PC's and/or mainframes.
Main production system; includes InterMedia floppy conversion
system, M4 reel-to-reel tape, Overland L490E autoloader (IBM 3490
compatible)
Close-up on the streamer drives presently in use in the main
production system (ref. prod_1)
Octopus floppy conversion system, expanded with Travan/QIC-80 and
Rhomat drives.
System used for mass-distribution of 3.5" floppies, incl. printer.
At this moment (it probably won't be the same tomorrow) our PC's handle the following non-standard equipment:
- Archive Viper 6150 (read/write any DC600 up to QIC150)
- Colorado T1000 (QIC-80, TR1)
- DLT 2000 (DEC)
- DLT 8000 (Compaq)
- Exabyte Eliant 820
- Exabyte 8505XL
- Exabyte 8900
- Fujitsu M2483B (3480 compatible)
- Hewlett-Packard HP1537A (DDS3)
- Tandberg 3800 (read/write any DC600 up to 525 MB)
- Tandberg SLR5
- Tandberg SLR6
- Tandberg SLR24

- Qualstar 1052 tape drive (9-spors rulletape, 1600/3200 bpi)
- 8" (SSSD > DSDD)
- 5.25" (DD)
- 5.25" (HD)
- 3.5" (DD)
- 3.5" (HD)
- 3.5" (ED)
We can handle any floppy disk format in circulation (some with more problems then others, of course)
from 3.5" to 8", including hard sectored, BUT ...we will not handle 3" Amstrad disks.
Typical jobs we can do in our service bureau include the following:
- fraud investigations / forensics (using other tools like WIZRULE as well);
- converting Excel files to a format suitable for further processing;
- system conversion (e.g. Unix to Windows NT, converting all back-ups and present files);
- converting word processed files into formats suitable for any typesetting or DTP operation;
- converting database data from mainframe to PC;
- converting tapes and disks between different operating systems and different software applications (within limits; sufficient information must be available);
- archiving data from almost any media to CD's;
- duplicating, labelling and mailing 3.5" and 5.25" disks (or even 8" disks).
Many jobs are by definition "one-off" jobs, e.g. converting Philips 5002 WP documents to something more modern.
We have done many jobs like this, e.g. for the State Bank (Nationalbanken), some hospitals and some local authorities, …
Other jobs are/were regulars, such as converting
- a compressed backup of a Bull spool file to IBM 3420 magtape with IBM 1403 spool files for output to microfiche;
- a IBM S/36 backup containing dog data to WordPerfect, so catalogues for a show could be printed;
- company data originating from Tax authorities (no, not the Danish Customs & Tax) to a more suitable format for inclusion in a Credit Information database;
- ledger information from various companies to a format readable by the Tax authorities;
- restore of a "secure" backup bypassing protection measures, so embarrassing faxes could be converted to WordPerfect format.
In short: if you need something done where magnetic media are involved: ask us
